At First Baptist, we summarize that purpose under two headings: “Exalting Christ” and “Loving People.”  These two goals govern everything we do.

Exalting Christ

In Ephesians 3:20-21 Paul prayed, “Unto him [God] be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”

Our desire to exalt Jesus Christ governs every aspect of who we are and what we do.  Since Jesus, the incarnate Word, has revealed Himself through His inspired Word, exalting Jesus means exalting the Bible.  At FBCW the Bible is our sole authority.  Therefore, the preaching and teaching of the Word of God is central to each service.  We will not bend Bible doctrine to please men, and we will not trade purity for popularity.  Rather, we will worship God in Spirit and in Truth.

Loving People

Jesus said, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” (John 13:35).

The mark of true a Christian is self-less love for one another. As we learn to depend on Christ, He will love others through us.  Love enables us to live holy lives without legalism.  Love enables us to serve one another sacrificially—and enjoy it!  Love breaks our hearts for the need of lost souls without Christ, and compels us to open our mouths to speak.  Love moves us to get involved in the lives of those who need to grow in Christ.  Love is how others see Christ in us.  Love never sacrifices Christ’s glory for temporary results.  Love sacrifices self for eternal results.

Lives are being transformed and families are being strengthened each week through the power of God’s Word.  We hope you will stop in for a visit soon!
